AFF launched in the US in 1996. It now reports more than 60 million registered accounts worldwide and around 2 million active users each week. The ratio leans male, about 77% men to 23% women, and most members are between 25 and 45.
The site is more than profiles: there are chat rooms, groups, blogs, member videos and live cams. That makes it lively, but it also means more ads and upsells than on the other discreet dating sites we reviewed.
Privacy and incognito settings
AFF scored 7.6 out of 10 for privacy. The tools exist, but you have to turn them on.
- Hide profile. You can hide your profile from search, or block specific members and even entire areas.
- Private albums. Keep photos private and share them only with members you approve.
- Discreet billing. Charges show under a neutral name.
- Hidden distance. Show your city rather than your distance.
- No blur tool or panic button. You will need to crop or edit your photos yourself.
Security deserves a plain word. In 2016 a breach exposed data from more than 400 million accounts across AFF's parent company's sites. The company says it has rebuilt its systems since then, and we found no newer breach reports. Use a separate email and a unique password, as you should on any discreet dating app.
Members and real activity
This is AFF's strength. In each of our three test cities, our profile got messages within the first hour, and the search filters found active members within a few miles even in mid-sized cities. Women reported being flooded with messages, so a short, specific bio helps you stand out.
Because the site is so large, fake and spam profiles do appear. We reported a handful that pushed us towards outside websites. Photo verification, where members have done it, is the best filter.

AFF also sells points for extras such as boosting your profile. You can skip them. Gold renews automatically, so switch off renewal in billing settings if you only want one period.

AFF is best for singles and couples who want the most choice and the fastest results, especially outside big cities, and who are happy to set up their own privacy. It is the quickest route to discreet hookups on our list.
